Own a Perfect 1973 Volvo 1800ES With 8,000 Miles on the Clock

Among all the great articles at Classical Drive, I noticed:
One night a couple of years ago I was walking along a rain-dampened street in Brooklyn with good friends Bob Schulties, About.com’s Autos Channel editor, and Colin Hefferon, my Vancouver test drive partner. The street lights were haloed in the mist, reflecting off Park Slope’s handsome old brownstones and off the parked cars, creating a mystical effect. So when we came upon a restored Volvo P1800 coupe at curbside it felt as though we were taking a trip back in time. So, too, for the young lady who happened along and exclaimed “I had my first date in one of those!” Memories of this magical evening returned when I spotted an Autoblog item featuring a 1973 Volvo 1800ES for sale on e-Bay with only 8,800 miles on the clock. You read right, folks: 8,800 miles. Everything is like-new and perfect and the really good news is that the car has received regular maintenance by Turner Volvo to assure that nothing’s grown brittle or rusty during those 34 years. The 1800ES was a “wagon” version of the P1800 coupe powered, in its later versions, by the B20 4-cylinder engine with fuel injection. Perhaps this one has been sold but the current bid is $23,010 (as of this post) and the reserve of $40,000 has obviously not been met. My original tale of a night in Brooklyn (when I was the Classic Cars Guide) still lives on About.com, so click here if you’d like to view the full story.
